Bonny Ibhawoh, Professor in the Department of History, has been named a new member of the College, which recognizes the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership. Professor Ibhawoh’s research documents African history and British imperial history in relation to global legal culture. He combines this scholarly work with outstanding dedication to building bridges between academic knowledge and the work of the international human rights movement. His award-winning contributions to scholarship, and his leadership of peacebuilding processes and multidisciplinary research collaborations, promote a nuanced understanding of human rights history while advocating for global citizenship, peace, and justice.
